FULL HOME RENOVATION (SCHOOL PROJECT)
Project Title: Full Home Renovation
Type: School Project (Residential Interior Design / Construction Management)
Duration: [8 weeks]
Role: [Designer / Developer / Researcher]
Description: Designed for a retired professor of anthropology during the 4th/final semester of my Interior Decorating program in Humber College Toronto, this project involved the complete renovation of a dated single-family home. The scope included demolition of non-structural interior walls, full reconfiguration of the floor plan, modernization of the kitchen and bathrooms, replacement of lighting and HVAC systems, and selection of sustainable, code-compliant finishes. The goal was to transform a compartmentalized, inefficient layout into an open, functional, and energy-conscious living environment while respecting the home’s original structural character.
Key Objectives: Improve spatial flow and natural light, Upgrade all major systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC), Balance modern design with cost and material constraints
Deliverables: As-built and demolition plans, New floor plan and reflected ceiling plan, Electrical and lighting layouts, Finish schedules and material sample boards, 3D renderings and construction documentation.
Softwares Used: AutoCAD, SketchUp, InDesign, Canva.
Outcome: The renovation proposal was well received for its practical yet thoughtful design. It strengthened my skills in whole-home project coordination, construction documentation, and designing within real-world constraints.
